Designer Masaya Kushino exhibition starts on Nov. 17th at Hinaya Kyoto Kiyomizu Gojozaka flagship store

Hinaya inc.(President : Naoto Izukura, Nishijin, Kyoto), an innovative obi and women's clothing and accessory brand "AKIHIKO IZUKURA" hosts the solo exhibition of designer Masaya Kushino at its flagship store "HINAYA KYOTO SHIMIZU GOJOZAKA" from November 17th to 30th. Mr. Kushino lives in Kyoto and leads his leather goods brand "Masaya Kushino", known for its very innovative, bold, and dramatic style.

Mr. Kushino started his own leather goods brand "Masaya Kushino" right after he was awarded the first place at JILA LEATHER GOODS AWARD in 2007. He successfully collaborated with Japanese fashion house SOMARTA for 2010-2011 AW Tokyo collection, and then with Julius in Paris. He also participated "Les R.mond's(lead by the artist enzo)performance in Paris, and is internationally recognized in both fashion and performance art.

This exhibition, in addition to exhibiting and selling shoes and bags of "Masaya Kushino", presents many of collaborative items made with textiles by a textile designer Ms. Misa Imai, who has supported Mr. Kushino's works, as well as Hinaya's original.

We will continue to collaborate with creators from various fields, and aim to contribute to the advancement of Japanese culture.

Kushibno Masaya
Head designer of "Masaya Kushino". After graduating from Kyoto art and design college (majored in fashion design), designed men's suits for a bridal fashion company. In 2004, he entered "Istituto MARANGONI" in Milan, and received a master diploma in fashion design. After coming back to Japan and working as a freelance bridal fashion designer, he also started styling artists. In 2007, he won the first prize at JILA LEATHER GOODS AWARD, and launched his own leather goods brand "Masaya Kushino".

Misa Imai
Textile designer. After graduating from Kyoto art and design college,(majored in fashion design), she got involved in many textile productions for Paris, Milan and Tokyo fashion houses at a fabric dyeing factory in Kyoto,  and was responsible for planning and processing of textile developments mainly with hand-painting. Later, she worked in product planning and developments by using techniques of Kyo Yuzen and other special techniques at a Yuzen manufacture. In 2009, she started her own textile brand "Mitla". She specializes in productions for textiles with thermal transfer printing and using metallic foils.

HINAYA's first flagship store is conveniently located very close to Kiyomizu temple, Ken'nin temple, Yasaka shrine and more of the Kyoto's must-see attractions. On the 1st floor, we offer a gallery style boutique with showcasing archives to tell HINAYA's past, and our current line-ups to show HINAYA's now, then art pieces from latest projects to tell HINAYA's future.
The 2nd floor of the flagship store is named "HINAYA FABRICS", and we exclusively showcase our signature obis, textile swatches and accessories for sale here. With an atelier-like atmosphere and much hospitality, fun activities and workshops will be offered weekly. We are certain that many craft and textile lovers all over the world gather here looking for something special and so unique.
